Lydia’s House Project, Just Started!

I started the Lydia’s House ministry, which is a missionary member care ministry, on March, 2017 after I finished missionary training at OMS in the States. I also finished another missionary training under the Korea Evangelical Holiness Church in November of the same year so I could be a member of both OMS and the KEHC. This missionary care ministry is at its first stage, so I’m focusing on raising support and sharing my vision for it, which means I need a lot of your prayer support. I believe that this member care ministry is very important because the KEHC has been sending missionaries all over the world for over 40 years, and now many leaders have realized that we need not only to be sending missionaries but also to be caring for them. God gave me a heart to share this needed ministry with individuals and with churches, and I praise the Lord who has given me His heart. I invite you who are reading this letter to join in this ministry.

The Great Commission (Matt 28:19) invites us to make disciples and every Christian should do this. But even if you cannot be not involved with this discipling ministry directly because of the distance or other reasons, I invite you to join with God and become supporters for this precious ministry, Lydia’s House.

Stage 1: Raising support– Start of Lydia’s House! Raising support, sharing vision, teaching spiritual journaling and spiritual direction

Stage 2: Practical ministry– Opening of Lydia’s House! Teaching spiritual journaling and spiritual direction, missionary debriefing

Stage 3: Construction of Lydia’s House- Building Lydia’s House for missionary member care, MK Training, and lay missionary training

Asbury Seminary

God opened a new way for me to extend this member care ministry all over the world. God provided a full scholarship for the Doctor of Ministry program (D. min) at Asbury Seminary located in Wilmore, Kentucky. I will study Leadership at Asbury for two-week summer residency courses, but for the most of the time except for those two-week courses, I will be in Korea and do member care ministry. I am looking forward to this leadership program because it is not only a time for studying but also for building relationships with different leaders from throughout the world. It will be a good challenge to find  more supporters through the program. Some topics like burnout, depression, conflict, MK, and spiritual  dryness are an essential part of this ministry. I hope that I’m able to expand my bond of sympathy with God’s heart.

My loving dad went to Heaven!

Sitting on the hospital bed

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on November 13, 2017. He endured 7 months of medical treatment before God called him to heaven early in the morning on June 7, 2018. Since I had become a Christian when I was a freshman in high school, my primary prayer was for the salvation of my family, and finally my father, crying, confessed his faith before the cross before he passed into His presence. God helped me keep my faith in that desperate situation and look toward my Savior. He also built up my mom and sister’s faith firmly through the funeral.

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved- you and your household” (Acts 16:31). I believe this Word from God. And I know that our hope is not on the earth but in  heaven, so I don’t doubt that God will turn this hard time in my life into a [priming water] in my Christian life. Please pray that this pain and sorrow produces spiritual growth and maturity.

The space to hold the hand of Jesus

  1. Prayer partner: I know that you are praying for the Lydia’s House wherever you live. But if you would like to be a key member of prayer for this ministry, please contact me, and I will share urgent prayer requests via text message or kakaotalk in real time.
  2. Financial supporter: Since this ministry is here to help and support missionaries, so some people do not think that I’m a missionary myself, which makes hard to raise support. If you and/or your church wants to financially support this ministry, please let me know, and I’ll explain more about those details directly.

Prayer Request

  1. Let me be a person of God that is filled with Holy Spirit every moment.
  2. Let me respond to the needs of missionaries and God sensitively.
  3. Let me hear the heart of God as king Solomon had and let me the live a life of spiritual director who stimulates life again and again.
  4. That God will send me more partners with whom I can work—prayer partners and financial supporters who can devote their lives to Him with this ministry and provide the funds needed.
