I will talk about the 'power of the spoken word in Christ.' It means that as Christians, the words we speak through our mouths, when aligned with our faith in Christ, have the power and authority to bring remarkable outcomes

For example, in Matthew 17:20, Jesus talked about the power of words in our faith. Jesus says, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it will move.” This verse encourages us to have faith and speak words that have the power to move circumstances and overcome obstacles.

The Mozart Effect

The Mozart effect is a well-known theory that describes the idea that listening to classical music can enhance cognitive abilities and physical performance. It has been observed that even cows benefit from listening to this type of music, as it helps them produce more milk. On average, a cow produces around 6.2 gallons of milk per day. However, when a cow listens to good music, it makes half or even 1.5 gallons more, resulting in a rough increase of 24% daily. It is true because there is a lot of date and research about the Mozart effect.

Rice and Black Mold

In 2009, MBC, a major Korean broadcasting network, made a documentary to experiment with the power of the spoken word. They placed a scoop of rice into two jars and wrote 'Thank you' on the first jar and 'You idiot' on the other. A person kept the jars and spoke to them daily for 30 days, expressing gratitude towards the 'Thank you' jar and expressing anger and frustration towards the 'You idiot' jar. As a result, the rice in the first jar fermented properly with white mold. However, the rice in the second jar developed black mold.

It demonstrates the power of the spoken word and can even impact the fermenting process of rice

Main Story

The story of Elisha teaches us about the power of the spoken word of Christians. In this story, I will discuss two important aspects. First, Elisha's spoken words have the authority and power to bring tangible results. Second, Elisha is responsible for being mindful of how he uses his words with care.

In this story, Elisha relentlessly pursued Elijah and expressed his desire to receive a double portion of Elijah's spirit, despite Elijah's initial rejection. He consistently demanded from him a double portion of his spiritual power day after day.

Finally, Elijah responded to Elisha, saying, "Your request will be granted if you see God taking me away. Elisha saw a chariot of fire suddenly appearing and taking Elijah to heaven. As Elijah departed, he left his mantle behind, symbolizing that Elisha had received a double portion of his spiritual power.

Misuse of Spiritual Power

God granted Elisha a double portion of spiritual power because he had requested it from Elijah. The problem arose for Elisha after he misused his spiritual power. The first time, Elisha carefully used his spiritual gift to help the people when they asked him. However, he misused his spiritual power with little care the second time.

In 2 Kings 2:23-25, a group of youths mocked Elisha and called him a "baldhead." In response, Elisha cursed them in the name of the Lord for his personal benefit, and two female bears came out of the woods and killed forty-two of the youths.

It seemed to be a mistake for Elisha to curse the children because he didn't fully realize the extent of his spiritual ability when he called upon God to listen to his voice. Cursing people appeared to be a natural response for him because he used to condemn those who bothered him before God granted him spiritual power.

It seems natural to anyone. I, too, find myself cursing at bad drivers while driving. Afterward, I gently touched my lips and prayed to God, saying, "Lord, forgive me for my language.

After that incident, Elisha never cursed people again. The incident served as a powerful lesson for him, teaching him to use his God-given spiritual power responsibly.

Conclusion

Power of the spoken word means your prayer! I will conclude my message with two spiritual lessens about the spoken word. First, God listens us when we pray. The Bible witness countless examples of prayers God has heard and answered.

  1. Matthew 7:7-8: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
  2. John 14:13-14: “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

Second, Christians should watch their mouths before they speak. God hears what is said, and our words have the power to impact our lives and the lives of others. So, it is important to be mindful before speaking. Matthew 18:18, “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Practical applications

Many Christians have the same question: How do we pray for answers?

  1. Be sincere and honest in your words. Express your thoughts and desires genuinely.
  2. Pray with faith and trust. Have faith in God and rely on His word not your emotion.

The last one is to “pray without ceasing.” When you pray, your spirit is connected in the heaven. How can you open the heavenly gate for you is to keep pray to God. If you completely charging your cell phone, you should keep plugging you phone until it is done. In the same way, if you want to see answering of your prayer, “pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-1816 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
